I was following the pack, all swallowed in their coats [OPEN]

Who: OPEN TO EVERYONE in Shepherd's Haven. Set your own threads, or tag someone else's!
What: Getting acquainted in the New Zealand settlement of Shepherd's Haven.
Where: South Island, New Zealand, about 10 miles away from Woodend
When: Mid-August, 2015
Warnings: Some sexy stuff in Lazarus and Misa's thread

A light dusting of snow covers the ground; spring is within sight, but there are still a few weeks of winter weather remaining. Fortunately, Shepherd's Haven is a cross between a nice campground and a small village, with heating and amenities provided. Living is simple here, but there's electricity and running water and a landline phone in what passes for a modest town hall. The population is small enough at this point that everyone can have their own cabin if they desire it, but that doesn't prevent people who have been friends and comrades and become inseparable as a result from bunking together if that's their preference.

Being gifted the land and facilities by a mysterious pro-Numbered benefactor could not have come at a better time. In big cities, the attitude toward Numbered is growing steadily more hostile, and those who have been identified publicly are subject to a certain level of aggression that wasn't present even in the worst pre-Invasion days. In broad daylight, without fear, targeting those who are weakest. Having a place in the wilderness to exist free of that conflict hasn't been such a bad thing, whether one came for that reason or to follow those they care about.

Today, people are either in their cabins staying warm, working on re-potting seedlings in the "town hall", or taking care of the handful of goats and chickens or the small flock of sheep the settlement is raising on their quest for self-sufficiency. What are you and your friends up to?
